The two genuinely visa-free picks

Thailand and Singapore don't need any visa at all for a Sri Lankan passport, no eVisa application, no arrival counter. Bangkok is also, by a wide margin, the cheapest destination on this entire list: less than half the cost of most of the eVisa options below it. If your budget is tighter than LKR 3 lakh, Bangkok is where it still works.

India, four ways

Four Indian cities clear this budget on eVisa, and they're all close in price (LKR 120 to 123k) because the flight from Colombo is short regardless of destination city. The difference is what you actually want to see: Delhi for history, Jaipur for the Rajasthan circuit, Agra for the Taj Mahal, Mumbai for the coast and the city itself.

The eVisa cluster: Malaysia, Vietnam, UAE, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia

Seven destinations here need an online application before flying, no embassy visit, approval typically within a week. Kuala Lumpur and Siem Reap (Cambodia, visa-on-arrival) are the best value in this group; Uzbekistan and Ethiopia are the two less-obvious picks worth knowing about if you've already done the usual Southeast Asia route.

Just over budget

Tbilisi (Georgia) and Zanzibar/Serengeti (Tanzania) all land at about $987, roughly LKR 1k over a strict 3-lakh cap in this snapshot. Small budget flex opens all three.

What's excluded, on purpose

Destinations needing an in-person embassy visit aren't on this list even where the raw total might fit. The whole premise is booking without a consulate appointment. If you're willing to do that route, raise the budget on the live tool and more (including embassy-visa options) will surface.

Changing the numbers

Every figure above is one traveller, five nights, budget style. A second traveller moves lodging less than you'd think (rooms aren't double the price) but flights and visa fees scale per person exactly. Want a longer trip or a mid-range style instead of budget? The live planner recalculates instantly; this post is one fixed snapshot of it.

FAQ

Which of these are actually visa-free? Thailand and Singapore, no visa application of any kind. Everything else needs an eVisa or visa-on-arrival, still no embassy visit.

Why isn't [country] here? Either it needs an embassy visit, or the 5-night budget-style total comes in over LKR 3 lakh. Raise the budget to see what opens up.
